How Often Should I Service My Honda CR-V?
Throughout its life, your Honda CR-V requires maintenance to perform at its best. Additionally, regular service keeps the car's parts working smoothly. Many more significant issues can often be prevented by making an appointment for your Honda CR-V service intervals as needed based on the manufacturer's recommendations. Your Honda CR-V maintenance schedule, located in the owner's manual, provides information specifically for your car about what services are needed and when.
15,000-Mile Service
The first service milestone that your Honda CR-V will hit is 15,000 miles. Although there aren't too many services that need to be performed at this point, it's still essential to have a certified mechanic evaluate your car. Two services required at this point are an oil change and tire rotation. A Honda mechanic will check the tires' condition and give the car a general overview to make sure everything looks okay.
30,000-Mile Service
Additional services are performed on your Honda at 30,000 miles. When your CR-V reaches 30,000 miles, it will have its brakes checked for wear and damage. The brake pads and rotors get inspected, along with the brake fluid levels. The brake calipers are evaluated for damage and leaks. A Honda technician will look at the steering gearbox, tie-rod ends and steering linkage as well. The suspension components get inspected at 30,000 miles, including a physical inspection of the bolts to make sure they are tight enough. The ball joint boots will get inspected for damage and signs of deterioration. The driveshaft boots will also be evaluated, and the boot bands are checked to make sure they are tight.
60,000-Mile Service
Your Honda CR-V will have its next tune-up at 60,000 miles. When your car reaches 60,000 miles, it will have the spark plugs checked and possibly replaced. The battery gets inspected at 60,000 miles as well. The brake hoses and brake lines are examined on the front and rear brakes. Major fluids in the car, including the transmission and engine fluids, are checked and flushed if dirty. The car's cabin's air filter may get changed at 60,000 miles, and the engine filter may also be changed.
90,000-Mile Service
At 90,000 miles, your Honda will have an inspection of the fluid levels and the general condition of all its major fluids. That includes the brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, engine coolant, and either the continuously variable transmission fluid or rear differential fluid if your vehicle has all-wheel drive.
