Honda Engine Not Working

Tips On Why Your Car Will Not Start

It is late, you are tired, and your car will not start. This happens more often than you would think, for many reasons. These tips are to help you know what to do when a car does not start. The best suggestion is to have your vehicle checked out before anything happens at our dealership in Springfield.

1. Corroded Battery Cables or Bad Battery

When a car will not start, the first thing to check is the car battery. It may be simply the battery cable is corroded, sometimes re-tightening or cleaning the cables will provide enough power to start. If the cables appear okay, the battery may be at the end of its useful life. A good battery test is to turn on the headlights; are they bright or dim? Is the battery warning light on, or did the engine turn over slowly? These symptoms point to battery issues.

2. Ignition Issues

Check for ignition issues by turning on the headlights; if they shine brightly and the car will not start, it may point to ignition problems. Discovering where ignition switch problems may be is tricky. Let BMW of Springfield experts track down your ignition problems.

3. Bad Electric Starter

The electric starter motor could be the issue. An easy way to check it is to turn on the lights; if they are bright, the battery is probably okay. The starter motor uses power from the battery, and if you hear a loud clicking sound and the battery is charged, it typically will be a faulty starter motor.

4. Clogged Fuel Filter

A dirty and clogged fuel filter will not deliver fuel to the engine, preventing it from starting. It is recommended to change the fuel filter with scheduled maintenance. Refer to the Owners Guide on when to change it or bring it to our dealership to have it checked by our experts.

5. Out of Gas

When the motor turns strongly, but the car will not start, one of the more simple things to check first is the fuel gauge. If the vehicle is out of fuel, it will not start, and that is why paying attention to the fuel gauge is essential.

We hope our tips help to discover your starting problems. Our last tip is to bring your car to our dealership in Springfield, MO, and have our experts check it.

Both programs are still active, but time is a factor.
