Honda Sensing is a complete suite of advanced driver-assist safety aids. Honda started to install the technology on its vehicles in 2018, and it's been a welcome addition to more models since then. When you buy a Honda in a model year where the safety technology is offered, you'll get a package that is either standard or optional based on your selected model and trim level. The package comes with a handful of base safety aids, and more are available if you want even more safety coverage on the road.

Road Departure Mitigation

Road Departure Mitigation is a standard system within the Honda Sensing package. Road Departure Mitigation is activated with highway driving if you attempt to switch lanes without using your turn signal. To prevent an accident, Road Departure Mitigation corrects your vehicle's braking and steering mechanisms to keep you from drifting out of your lane unintentionally and, in turn, causing an accident.

Collision Mitigation Braking

Collision Mitigation Braking is a system that works to stop your car from getting into forward collisions. The system activates when you are driving. If the Collision Mitigation Braking System determines that you are too close to the vehicle ahead, it will pressure the front brakes to keep you from hitting the car in front.

Lane Keeping Assist

Honda's Lane Keeping Assist technology uses radar and cameras to watch both sides of your vehicle on the highway. The system can take over your vehicle's steering function to help you stay in your lane. The system activates if it senses that you are changing lanes without using your vehicle's turn signals to the right or left.

Traffic Sign Recognition

Traffic Sign Recognition is a standard component of the Honda Sensing package. Traffic Sign Recognition technology is activated on the highway. It uses unique technology to read upcoming speed limit signs and relay any changes in posted speed limits ahead to help you continue driving at a safe and legal speed limit.

Honda LaneWatch

Honda LaneWatch is part of a more comprehensive Honda Sensing package for most vehicles. It uses cameras built into the side mirrors to help you turn safely. When you start turning to the right, the LaneWatch technology uses a camera located on the passenger's exterior side mirror to show a live video of the lane to the right. It has a screen with four times the visibility of the standard side mirror for safe lane-change assistance.
