Civic enters its 10th generation with a big bang. Honda implemented a truly ambitious redesign that accentuates the car’s looks, technology and performance.
The 2016 Honda Civic on sale in Delray Beach flaunts a sporty new look that matches the fun-to-drive performance delivered by its new engines. The exterior is certainly more sculpted, as you can see on the hood and in the deep new bodylines that sweep toward the car’s fastback-like rear end. Along with gaining revised front headlights, you’ll also notice that Civic integrates eye-catching, almost crescent-shaped new taillights.
On the interior, Honda has increased cabin space thanks to the use of a new platform. It’s also now easier and safer to use your smartphone in the car. With new technologies from Apple and Android, those with compatible phones can access apps from the dashboard infotainment interface, including phone, maps, music and a range of third-party apps.
Moving on to the topic of performance, Civic’s new body and chassis contribute to better handling, driving dynamics and reduced road noise in the cabin. Also aiding performance are two all-new engines that are more efficient and powerful than their predecessors. The first is a 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder, which is the most powerful base engine ever included in the lineup; it can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or CVT. The second engine is a 1.5-liter direct-injected turbocharged inline-4 that’s mated to a CVT.
Another notable inclusion on the 2016 Civic is Honda Sensing, a suite of cutting-edge safety technologies that assist drivers in avoiding and/or mitigating collisions. The technology suite includes Road Departure Mitigation, Collision Mitigation Braking and - for the very first time ever in the Honda lineup - an Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow system.
