This past April, Delray Honda was very proud to sponsor and participate in the Best Buddies Friendship Walk! Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to create opportunities for employment, leadership development and one-to-one friendships for individuals with disabilities.

The nonprofit has programs at several south Florida middle schools, high schools and colleges, giving students with IDD (intellectual and physical disabilities) greater opportunities to socialize with their peers and take on leadership roles in school activities.

The Best Buddies Friendship Walk drew a large crowd and nearly $80,000 was raised to assist the organization in expanding and opening new programs in Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast. Currently, Best Buddies also has programs in Tampa Bay, Miami, Jacksonville, Broward and central Florida.

In addition to schools, the nonprofit offers an e-Buddies online program that teaches participants technical skills and how to communicate using various mediums. There’s also a Best Buddies Promoters group that advocates for those with IDD and raises awareness for disability rights.

Delray Honda supports Best Buddies' efforts to promote social inclusion for disabled individuals and their goal to spark new friendships between people from all “walks” of life. If you didn’t have a chance to attend the recent Best Buddies Friendship Walk, we hope to see you at next year’s event!
