Downtown Delray Beach is known for its many cultural events, but among them the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival is considered one of the best. Come dressed in green and celebrate Irish culture and our nation’s esteemed service men and women at this year’s parade!
Colorful floats, honor guards, drum bands, dance crews and other groups will participate in the procession, which runs down Atlantic Avenue. The parade takes place from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015, and before, during or after guests can also enjoy plenty of fun activities out in front of the Downtown Delray Center for the Arts, where a festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The entire shindig is expected to receive over 100,000 guests!
The festival includes live entertainment, vendors, food, free Cupcake wine samples and a full bar, but if you’ll only be able to make it for the parade, there’s still a chance for you to party the night before. On Friday, March 13, the Siamsa Celtic Celebration will take place at the Center for the Arts from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and features Irish storytelling, live music, beer, food, traditional bag pipes, face painting and other fun activities.
In conjunction with the Siamsa Celtic Celebration, the Center for the Arts will hold a charity event to raise money for child cancer research. St. Baldrick’s Foundation is hosting the fundraiser from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and the event will include the foundation’s signature head-shaving ceremony, where over 150 volunteers shave off their hair to show support for kids with cancer.
